I just helped my daughter move into her new apartment in Austin: Waller Creekside on 51st. The place is gorgeous. Everything is new, and it has nearly everything you could want: beautiful flooring, granite countertops, ceiling fans, tons of closet space, more electrical outlets than you'll ever need, a dishwasher, garbage disposal. Washer and dryer are available to rent; of course there's a separate room in the apartment just for these. Plus there's a pool and a 24 hr. workout room; and they had a pool party the night after we arrived. Parking is just adequate, but for a fee you can have covered parking or even a garage. The complex is gated at night, but I couldn't figure out why; the area around it seems very nice. Sure, the cemetery across the street is a little creepy, but there are no old, scary headstones visible from the apartment complex. There are a jillion tennis courts and an intramural athletic field right next door. All this within about ten minutes (by car) from U Tex, plus just about every kind of shopping or restaurant you could ever want. As a parent from nowhere near Texas, I feel very good about my daughter living at Waller Creekside on 51st.
