The staff was extremely polite and showed value in the community.
Great place to call home in the city!
Moved to West Square in February 2014; was one of the first residents to move in. Building felt a bit eerily quiet in first 1-2 months of occupancy, but as more residents moved in and as Spring became Summer, it's become an increasingly vibrant residential community.
The building is very attractive. Modern, simple lines, eye-pleasing colors. Beautiful, open lobby with concierge (available 7 days/week), leasing/management office that leads to large common areas w/ 2 wall-mounted TVs, communal kitchen/bar, high tables, lounge seating and gas fireplace. Other common amenities include a business center w/ wall-mounted TV and free coffee/tea; a very nice, large gym that compares favorably to any upscale fitness club; a yoga/motion studio.
Each floor has direct access to the garage; if you have a car they will give you a garage space on the floor of your residence, which is a nice convenience. There are also Zipcars available on the 1st floor of the garage, which is great for non-car owners.
The outdoor courtyard has been a popular gathering spot as the weather has warmed. There is a 6-burner Weber grill available for community use and numerous patio tables available. On nice days you can often find numerous residents enjoying food/drink and grilling out there until the patio closes in the evening.
The residences themselves are excellent; most floor plans have ample kitchen cabinet and counter space; some even have stainless steel island carts that are very useful for storage and entertainment. The high-end Whirlpool appliances and tile backsplash further accentuate how great the kitchens are.
The bedrooms are spacious and the size of the walk-in closets are a game-changer, offering plenty of storage space. The bathrooms are very nice as well, with the deep tub as the highlight.
Some units, esp. those facing into the courtyard, have the "Juliet" balcony with sliding doors. It's a nice way to get fresh air into your residence in lieu of air conditioning.
West Square is a pet-friendly community. They have a "pet spa" in the garage, although one item of note is that pets are not permitted in the courtyard.
The staff (leasing, management, maintenance, concierge) are really friendly, professional, responsive and make you feel at home. I had a couple of minor, inconvenient issues in the first 1-2 months upon moving in; they were resolved in timely and quality fashion by the staff and we haven't had anything requiring their attention in the past few months.
The residents I've seen and met so far are mostly a mix of young professionals and empty nesters, with a few young families mixed in. It's a relatively quiet building with friendly, courteous, respectful neighbors.
The location is great. It's about a 10-minute walk to the Broadway T stop on the Red Line, and it's a convenient bus ride to both the South End and Back Bay on the #9 bus. It's also a convenient walk to most places in Southie as well as only a 15-minute walk to the dining/nightlife in the Seaport as well as Fort Point. There's also Foodies supermarket around the corner as well as the conveniences of CVS, Dunkin Donuts, banks, dry cleaners, take-out/fast food, etc. a short walk away on Broadway.
For driving, there's easy access onto the Mass Pike, and access to 93 is also pretty easy. For visitors, there's 2-hour visitor parking during weekdays on the West 2nd Street side of the building, with metered parking further up on D Street towards the Seaport. On weekends, visitors should take advantage of whatever visitor parking spots they can find, and the metered spots on D Street are free on Sundays.
Overall I find West Square to be a great fit when it comes to living in the city. I find myself walking to many more places as well as having much easier access to work and many other conveniences.

The community was nice and the leasing agent was very personable. The apartment was decorated well, and the rooms were HUGE! It had a lot of space and the service I was provided was great as well.

My perceptions as a potential resident of this community was very inviting. The outside of building was the most attractive on D street. Ijust loved the orange/golden colors with its modern architecture. The interior was state of the art design and well kept. The leasing agent was very informative and enthusiastic. The maintenance staff seemed very friendly and courteous. This apartment would be one of my first three choices to rent from.

The community amenities that were explained to me did not impress me to the point where they made a big difference on whether or not I would choose to live in this community. They were your regular run of the mill places to eat, hang out in, or shop. However, in the end and after all is said and done, I enjoyed my visit and would recommend this apartment community to my family and friends.

The location of the community was the main attraction that may warrant the monthly rental fee. The amenities were similar to those down the road, some of which I felt would be of no use to myself, and the interior design was too plain for my tastes and did not have anything that popped out beside the potential view.

This is an amazing community. The apartments were so much more than I expected. The detail that went into the design of the community area, office and the apartments was simply amazing. I would love to call the community home.

The community is state-of-the-art. It is brand new building that is decorated beautifully with bright colors and very contemporary. The apartments are outstanding with very high ceilings and very large windows.
