Apartment Review from an Independent Evaluator
The apartment community was built in two phases and was 10 plus years old; however, the management company was remodeling the first phase. The apartment homes were being updated with stainless steel kitchen appliances and granite counter tops. The community had a controlled gated access. The property was well-kept and impressive, and the apartment was soundproof and homelike.

Relaxing and calm place to live in, however better insulation of walls to prevent the train noise, and noise from neighbours would help.

The only disappointment was the parking situation. Keeping a couple of parking places available for "future residents" would be expected.

This community had fabulous curb appeal, even right after a large snow storm. It looked very neat and well maintained. This was a good value for the rental price. The dimensions and upgrades of the apartment were outstanding. This was a very appealing site.

The staff I encountered was very friendly, professional and energetic. The community is well kept and attractive.
Generally great, with a few drawbacks.

Maintenance requests (no matter how they're submitted) go through the receptionist, who often calls to try to talk you out of having maintenance come.
Beautiful landscaping.
But behind my apartment becomes a swamp when it rains.
The website is terrible and rarely seems to work in a logical manner.

The community was beautiful. I thought the apartment was nice, but I thought the price per month was a little high for the amount of space provided. This community was in the classy category and better than many. The amenities would be everything I was looking for, but the size of the apartment for the price was not what I would have expected. I would be happy living here if I made the kind of money needed to afford to live here.

If you are looking for a new place to live, look here and you wont regret it.
Size and space sell this apartment.
The building itself is spacious and great. It is in a prime location, right off of I-35, which is convenient. However, the gates aren't closed as often as you would think. We have had multiple problems paying rent and bills. Most staff hasn't been professional towards us at all. And there is a lack of parking spots.
Friendly staff, clean/pretty landscaping, nice apartment as well as appliances
The Highlands South is a great place to live. I feel safe with the gated entryway, and I love that the apartments bring in a lot of sunlight. If I had any complaint, it would be that there is no fireplace in our one bedroom, and it gets pretty cold in the winter on the lower level - my electricity bill was pretty high for a few months and it really made me wish I had some other source of heat to accommodate.

The apartments are reasonably priced and nice enough, however the staff is very disorganized, as they have lost documents and made me come in multiple times for missed signatures, and my covered parking spot is, inexplicably, no where near my apartment. No remorse or retribution were offered when I was inconvenienced for their mistakes.
